With its excavated area, extending for approximately 44 ha, and the
preserved state of its buildings, due to the particular burial (under
a blanket of 6 meters of ash and rock) caused by the eruption of Vesuvius
in 79 AD, Pompeii can be considered the only archaelogical site which
gives the real image of a roman city.
Visiting Pompeii is something that cannot fail to amaze you.
There you will be able to marvel at the amazing temples, the beautiful
Roman baths, mosaics that today are still intact in the Roman villas.
Admire the bodies in plaster casts as they were discovered when they fell
to the ground and the statues of the Gods and Goddesses and many, many
other wonderful things.
After the visit to ancient Pompeii we'll drive out to the wonderful archaeological
village of Herculaneum which was buried by lava and mud following the
eruption of Vesuvius in 79AD.
The town is very different to Pompeii with the wealthier people once residing
here so the houses are better preserved and more visible.
The mosaics are a major feature within the town and are more prominent.
